ABOUT ME

Hi:)  My name is Jon Schwartz. I started my career in retail at Gap Inc., where I completed their executive training program and was on the founding team for oldnavy.com. With a deep interest in closing the opportunity gap for low-income students and families, I pivoted to education reform, where I spent two decades in executive team roles at venture philanthropy-backed organizations such as Achievement First and the Charter School Growth Fund that have successfully achieved meaningful scale and impact.

After completing Terra Do's "learning for action" course, a 12-week, 100+ hour education and solutions boot camp that provides a deep dive into the climate change landscape, and participating in Climate Vine,  a selective membership community for climate changemakers to unlock ideas, talent, and capital, I’m now focused on addressing the climate crisis and related social justice impacts as my next professional chapter. Even more specifically, what gives me energy is helping individuals, households, and businesses reduce their carbon footprint by changing their daily consumer behavior patterns and/or by electrifying their homes, vehicles, and workplaces. I’m also passionate about learning to better communicate with constituents of all backgrounds and beliefs in order to lead more people to feel empowered, hopeful, and—perhaps most importantly—motivated to get actively involved in addressing the climate emergency we are collectively facing.

Regardless of the sector, my passion and strength center around helping rapidly growing organizations and entrepreneurial CEOs develop the financial and operational systems, processes, and talent practices necessary to scale with excellence.

I earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a BA in history from Princeton University, and am a graduate of the Broad Residency in Urban Education. I live in the "bold north" of Minneapolis, MN, with my wife and three children.
